Trapeze & Lyra
Bar in Hand. Hoop in Sight.

Static trapeze: a single bar on two ropes. Lyra: a steel hoop on a swivel. Two of the prettiest apparatuses in the studio, and our favourite class for people who like a little glamour with their grit.
Lyra hangs you in a perfect circle and asks you to make it look easy. Trapeze hands you a bar and dares you to make it sing. Both apparatuses reward a particular flavour of strength — not raw pulling power but the precise placement of every limb. Photos of bad silks look fine; photos of bad lyra look like a bag of laundry. By the end of term you'll be pointing your toes in your sleep.
Good fit if…
You like grace as much as grit. Bonus if you've done dance or gymnastics, but it's not a prerequisite.
FYI: The leotard is named after Jules Léotard, the trapeze artist who invented modern trapeze in his dad's swimming pool in 1859.
