Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

What age groups and skill levels do you offer classes for?

We offer classes for all ages, from 1 year old through to adults, and welcome all experience levels — from complete beginners to advanced students.

Are classes suitable for beginners with no experience?

Absolutely! All of our classes are beginner-friendly. You don't need any prior experience to get started.

How do I know which class is best for my child?

Not sure where to start? The best way is to try a class and see what clicks. We offer obligation-free trial classes across all our programs so your child can explore before committing.

Do you offer a trial class?

Yes! We offer a free trial class for any class format you haven't tried before. It's a great way to find out if circus is for you — or to explore different styles to find the best fit.

If you'd like to continue after your trial, get in touch and we'll help you enrol. There's also the option to attend as a casual student in some classes — chat to our team about what's available.

How do I sign up for a free trial class?

Click the Try a Class button on our website and enter your details — we'll be in touch shortly with everything you need to know.

What happens after the free trial class?

Just let us know if you'd like to continue! You can complete the enrolment process online through the customer portal, where you can manage your account, set up classes and make payments.

Membership

How long is the minimum commitment?

Membership has a minimum 3-month commitment. This includes at least one school-holiday period and gives students time to build skills and settle into the program.

What's included with my membership?

40 teaching weeks per year (Feb–Dec), with monthly payments spread evenly across the year.

Annual student registration and accident insurance, performance opportunities, unlimited make-up tokens (valid 6 months, subject to availability), 20% off holiday programs, 5% off in the circus shop, member events and our monthly newsletter.

How do I cancel my membership?

Submit a written request by email to admin@roundaboutcircus.com or via the customer portal. Cancellations cannot be accepted by phone or in person and cannot be backdated. Notice takes effect from the date of approval.

All outstanding fees must be cleared before cancellation is finalised. Make-up tokens expire once the membership is cancelled.

Can I pause my membership?

Yes — membership can be paused for up to two months per year. Reach out to the office to arrange a pause.

What is the 100% Smiles Guarantee?

If within 14 days of your first class you decide that circus isn't the right fit, we'll refund the remaining portion of your first month's membership and cancel your enrolment — no further commitment required.

Fees & Payment

How are direct-debit fees calculated?

There's no set-up fee for direct debit. Bank-account direct debit is fee-free.

Visa or Mastercard: $0.33 plus 1.87% per transaction. AMEX: $0.33 plus 3.85%. Failed-payment fee: $5.50 per rejected transaction. These are charged by our secure payment provider, not retained by Roundabout Circus.

What happens if a payment is late?

Accounts overdue by 14 days incur a $10 late fee per student, per month. Students with overdue balances may be suspended from classes, private lessons or performances until accounts are up to date.

All outstanding balances must be cleared before cancellation.

Make-up Classes

How do make-up classes work?

If a student has to miss a class, members can attend an alternative make-up class with at least 2 hours' notice via the customer portal. For short-notice changes, email or call the office.

Members get unlimited make-up tokens, valid for 6 months from issue and subject to availability. Tokens are not refundable, transferable to siblings, or applicable to holiday programs / private classes.

Are there any limits on make-up classes?

Yes — students must meet the minimum age and skill requirements for the class they're attending (a beginner can't join an intermediate-advanced class). Make-up classes are only available if member fees are current.

Once booked, make-ups can't be changed. There are no make-ups for holiday-intensive programs or missed private classes.

In Class

What should I wear to a class?

Comfortable clothing you can move freely in — pants and a t-shirt work well.

For aerial classes: leggings, tracksuits or pants below the knee, and shirts that cover your back, armpits and waist. Leotards are recommended for advanced aerial. No loose clothing, jeans, or clothing with zippers on aerial fabrics. Remove all jewellery (especially rings and dangly pieces). Long hair must be tied up. No shoes on the mats — but shoes are required for stilt-walking and fire spinning.

Where should I wait when I arrive?

Please arrive on time and check in at the reception kiosk. Students wait in the reception area until invited into the training space by a coach. Participation in the warm-up is required for safety.

Students under 12 must be dropped off and collected by a parent or authorised guardian unless prior arrangements have been made.

Can I stay and watch my child's class?

Parents and family are welcome to stay in the reception area to watch — it's not required, though. Parents and siblings need to remain out of the training space and not touch the equipment.

For Cirque Possible and Preschool classes, parents and support workers may assist students in the training space (shoes off, please).
