Youth Aerial Foundations 2

Improver aerial · Ages 8–13 Youth

For young aerialists ready to build on their foundations — strength, technique and creativity across silks, trapeze, hammock and lyra. Mondays 3:45pm.

Youth Aerial Foundations 2 is designed for students who are ready to build on their aerial foundations and deepen their strength, technique, confidence, and creativity in the air. Students continue developing skills across aerial apparatus including silks, trapeze, hammock and lyra while learning safe progressions, transitions, sequencing, and performance quality.

Suitable For

  • Youth students with previous aerial experience
  • Students who have completed a foundations or beginner aerial class
  • Ages approximately 8–13 years

What Students Will Learn

Students will work on:

  • Safe aerial practices and equipment awareness
  • Aerial conditioning and strength development
  • Climbing techniques and endurance
  • Inversions and foundational aerial pathways
  • Foot locks and wraps
  • Beginner to intermediate poses and transitions
  • Sequencing and flow between skills
  • Musicality and creative movement
  • Performance skills and stage confidence
  • Flexibility and body awareness
  • Teamwork, resilience, and creative expression

Apparatus

Classes include a rotating combination of:

Aerial silks
Static trapeze
Lyra (aerial hoop)
Hammock or sling

Typical Class Structure

  1. Welcome & Warm Up

    Students begin with a full body warm up including cardio, mobility, stretching, and circus-specific conditioning to prepare safely for aerial training.

  2. Conditioning & Skill Development

    Students build strength through targeted aerial conditioning exercises focused on grip strength, core engagement, shoulder stability, and active flexibility.

  3. Aerial Skills Training

    Students work on progressive aerial skills suited to their level. Coaches guide students through technique drills, transitions, sequencing, and apparatus-specific tricks.

  4. Creative Exploration

    Students may work individually or collaboratively on short sequences, performance tasks, or creative movement exercises to build confidence and artistry.

  5. Cool Down

    Classes finish with stretching, reflection, and recovery exercises.

Performance Opportunities

Students may have opportunities throughout the year to participate in showcases, performances, and community events where they can share their skills and celebrate their progress in a fun and supportive environment.
